DirectoryFast AI vs Directify: Which Directory Builder Fits You

An honest comparison of two AI-led directory builders: where the AI lives, how each handles data modelling and indexation, pricing, monetisation, and who should pick which.

Both tools generate a directory from a description. That is where the similarity ends.

We make DirectoryFast, so weight the recommendations accordingly. Directify is a good product and for a lot of people it is the better answer. Here is the actual comparison.

The one-line version

Directify is a hosted directory platform with AI-led setup and a visual panel for everything after. Fast, conventional, monetisation ready today.

DirectoryFast AI is a hosted directory platform driven from your AI chat, permanently. Schema designed before content, no visual editor, monetisation currently paused.

Where the AI lives

This is the real fork.

Directify uses AI to compress setup. You describe the idea, it generates categories, custom fields and sample listings, and then you are in a visual panel. Everything after that is conventional software: click, edit, save. That is a perfectly good model and it is what most people expect.

DirectoryFast treats your AI client as the control surface indefinitely. You connect once over OAuth and 39 MCP tools become available in that conversation. Publishing, corrections, analytics, blog posts, submissions, domains, all of it stays in the chat.

The question is not which is more advanced. It is where you want to be working eight months from now.

Data modelling: the difference that shows up in search

Both let you define fields. The ordering differs.

On Directify you configure custom fields, with AI help, as part of setup. Standard and flexible.

On DirectoryFast the agent designs the typed schema for the niche before anything gets filled, then validates every entry against it. For gunsmiths that means a regulatory weapon category and a partner-armoury delivery flag. Fields no generic configuration flow would suggest, because it does not know the niche.

Why this matters beyond neatness: Google's March 2026 core update hit directories with thin, weakly differentiated pages hard. Entries that share a real typed schema produce pages with genuinely distinct structured data, which is the current bar for staying indexed. Entries with a description and a link do not.

You can achieve the same result on Directify by thinking hard about your fields yourself. The difference is whether the tool makes you do it first or lets you skip it.

Monetisation: Directify wins today, clearly

No hedging here.

Directify supports charging listers now: one-time or subscription listings, featured placements, ad slots, lead gating. Payments go to your own Stripe, Lemon Squeezy or Creem, and they take no cut.

On DirectoryFast, end-user monetisation is currently paused. Paid featured placements, paid listings and affiliate flows exist but are not enabled.

If your plan requires revenue from listers this quarter, that settles it. Choose Directify.

Indexation and the free tier

On DirectoryFast, free subdomains are set to noindex deliberately. A shared domain hosting hundreds of unvetted directories attracts SEO spam and every tenant pays for it. The Pro plan buys the custom domain, and with it indexation.

That is a real constraint stated plainly: you cannot build organic traffic on the free tier. It is also, arguably, protection you would want if you were the one on the shared domain.

Directify's terms on free-plan indexation should be checked directly, since they change.

Either way: if SEO is the acquisition plan, budget for a custom domain from day one on any platform.

Day two

Directify: open the panel, make the change, save. Conventional and perfectly fine.

DirectoryFast: type the correction in the chat you already have open. The change lands at the next read, around 0.1 seconds, with no rebuild.

The practical difference is not seconds saved. It is whether a small correction ever gets made at all when you are busy and it is month fourteen.

Who should pick which

Pick Directify if: you want a visual panel, you need to charge listers soon, you are not already working inside an AI client, or you want the fastest conventional route to a live site.

Pick DirectoryFast if: your day already happens in an AI chat, you want the schema designed for your niche rather than configured by you, you run several directories and admin overhead is the constraint, and monetising listers is not urgent.

Pick neither if: you need deep membership features, in which case look at Brilliant Directories, or you are committed to WordPress, in which case GeoDirectory or HivePress.

FAQ

Can I try both?

Directify has a free plan. DirectoryFast has a free tier, noindex, which is enough to see what schema the agent designs for your niche before paying.

Which is cheaper?

Directify at entry level. Compare against what your time is worth rather than the sticker.

Can I migrate between them?

Export formats differ and custom fields are where migrations break. Ask both about export before committing.

Does DirectoryFast have a dashboard at all?

No. That is deliberate, and it is the main reason to choose Directify instead.

Which ranks better?

Neither platform ranks for you. Server-rendered pages, schema markup, a custom domain and genuinely differentiated per-page data are what rank. Both can deliver that. DirectoryFast pushes you toward the data modelling more forcefully.
